I successfully passed the one-year confirmation stage of my PhD yesterday. It was never really in question: I would have to have been in serious trouble to be given my marching orders at this stage. (On the other hand — been there, done that, got the MSc instead.) But it’s nice to get it out of the way, so I can get back to my research. Well, when I’m not preparing for tutes that is!

Congratulations! Next it’s the second-year blues, to be followed by the third-year decline… ;)
Thanks! It’s nice to know I have something to look forward to!
Don’t forget the fourth-year poverty-stricken rush to correct it all.
When are you going to come to Blighty, then?
Next year some time … the subject is on the agenda for the next meeting with my supervisor!
